This commission was a challenge to create in clay. The legs and tails were made of moldable apoxy over steel rods to make them sturdy.
I asked the client to write about their rodeo career that I could edit down for this website. Instead, he wrote this ode to his son which I felt led to just quote:
"This sculpture was made from a picture taken at a Booger Barter Production in the San Antonio Texas Rose Palace - 2005. I am the 'header', Ronnie Lee Tumlinson. The 'heeler' is my son, Ronnie Lon Tumlinson. Ronnie Lon went to be with the Lord October 12, 2012, when he died in a headon accident. He was 37 years old. Ronnie and I prayed together, worked together, and played together. He was my son and my best friend. I will hold him in my heart until I can hold him in my arms forever."
